Just a note: women do not have their babies 'tucked in their parka hoods' but are in fact contained within the body of the garment (called an amauti) against the mother's back. The hood is entirely separate. This allows the baby to keep warm from the mother (or father)'s body heat and also makes it easy for breastfeeding.
It is a common misconception, but even wikipedia's got it right, so there's no excuse for this factual misprint in a Walrus article in my opinion.

Great — another far corner of the earth being ruined by the trash of Western culture.
I was the manager before the current one and I met Margo up there the year before.I remember taking a picture of her with a 9 foot long narwhal tusk. She describes the activity exactly as I remember it. margo was on the Des Gros that trip as well and I showed her the only 18 hole golf course that you could play 24 hours a day. It's nice to be able to read about people you met in Kugaaruk, like Tom Cooke and his wife, John and Celine(Dion) Ningark, I listened to Georges video of them on Youtube. Many fond memories. Margo, I look forward to purchasing your book. I must have my book store find one for me.
